Tracking Technology Overview

The objects to be tracked require a small RFID or GPS electronic tag device to be attached.    We provide these hardware devices and the associated software so you can then view the status and location of mobile resources from anywhere over the internet.    In addition business rules may be applied within the system, such that if an object passes into or out of a predefined area then this action can trigger other events, processes, e-mail alerts, SMS alerts or notifications to occur automatically.

We offer a number of different systems and tag types each suited to different objects and environments.  For example, if the object is to be tracked inside a large building, or outdoors in a yard, or throughout the UK/Europe or across several of these environments then the appropriate system can be configured.  Our systems use a variety of technologies to achieve this including GPS, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), wireless and mobile phone networks.

The diagram above shows a summary of the tracking system in 3 steps:

  1. Communication between tagged objects and GPS, RFID, wireless and mobile networks to ascertain and communicate current position and status.
  1. Data sent to servers on a regular basis, or when the object moves or upon request.
  1. Tracking information can be accessed from anywhere over the internet and displayed on PCs or handheld devices - showing location and status of objects on maps, lists or indoor plans.
