Who is Zetes?

Zetes UK is an auto-ID solution provider with expertise in wireless communications. Zetes’ aim as a company is to identify and provide the right combination of technology to address the business challenges surrounding automatic ID of goods. The company goes beyond traditional systems integration by combining technical and business consulting skills with sector specific expertise in the retail, logistics and manufacturing environments. The end result for clients is the achievement of significant performance optimisation, increased data accuracy and cost/efficiency improvements.

Zetes offers a single source yet independent service for organisations with wide ranging expertise spanning the following areas: software and hardware integration, business process consulting, sector specific software solutions for the retail, logistics and manufacturing environments, software development, professional services and deployment, security, infrastructure and cabling, hardware supply plus full service and support at all levels (see Fig 1: Zetes Value Pyramid).

Zetes UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zetes Group, a pan European company with a strong track record in auto-ID (of goods and people). Zetes Group had combined revenues of Euro 137.5m in 2006 and employs over 600 staff across 12 European countries. The company is also investing in creating a world class support and service operation and has recently appointed a Director of UK Customer Service Operations.

How does Zetes stay ahead of the latest technologies?

Zetes operates a unique 3i Competence Centre from its Belgium headquarters which was formed around the company’s ethos of “innovate, integrate and improve”. In addition Zetes has a team of specialized, highly skilled and experienced software developers in the UK.

The 3i Competence Centre is dedicated to exploring new applications and ways of coupling complementary technologies on behalf of Zetes’ customers within the areas of Voice, RFID and Print and Apply. Most recently the 3i Competence Centre has identified ways to combine Voice and RFID for enhanced efficiency and accuracy within the warehouse and it has also added a SAP integrator to its 3i Voice Solution to address the rising interest for logistics voice applications within the SAP community.

How does Zetes actually work?

Zetes is technology agnostic and prides itself in taking a consultative approach to creating value added solutions to meet the customer’s precise needs. Zetes partners with leading hardware manufacturers to offer complete solutions of the highest quality for real-time data capture and validation, tracking and traceability. Zetes combines brand leading hardware with its own range of sector specific solutions designed around 3 core areas: retail stock management (Nucleus IS – In Store), warehouse and logistics management (3iVoice), plus mobilised warehouse and retail transactions within SAP (MiNetConnect).

Uniquely, Zetes also develops its own range of very specialised and complimentary hardware products which plug important gaps in the marketplace that are not served by the major manufacturers whose products Zetes implements as total solutions. For instance, Zetes manufactures its own range of rugged truck mounted terminals which can be fully integrated to Zetes’ mobile solutions.

What is Zetes’ expertise in voice recognition technology?

Over the past few years Zetes has developed its reputation as a leader in the development and deployment of voice based technologies within warehouse and supply chain environments. Across Europe, Zetes is the largest provider with over 25,000 active voice users currently (in other words, there are now over 25,000 running Zetes 3i Voice).

In the UK, 2 of the biggest third party logistics providers use Zetes’ voice solutions to increase their warehouse efficiencies, and in addition some of the most well known high street retail brands have successfully deployed Zetes 3iVoice. Current 3iVoice users include TDG, Corporate Express, Superdrug, Coop, Metro, Carrefour, Coca Cola. 3i Voice has proven to be a popular solution because it is easily scaleable with a modular structure, is built to support a variety of hardware platforms and offers easy integration through m ultiple proven architectures/bridges.
